About Baltic Amber

Genuine Baltic Amber on beach

Amber FAQs

What is amber? Amber is a fossilized tree resin. Each bead is a fossil from an ancient forest that existed millions of years ago.

Where does our amber come from? Our necklaces and bracelets are handcrafted with genuine Baltic Amber beads from Lithuania. We use only authentic Baltic Amber, the most esteemed type of amber in the world.

A note on "home tests:" We understand that purchasing 'real' Baltic Amber is a concern of many customers. Tests you can do yourself at home to ensure that your Baltic Amber is real pop up on the internet from time to time and cause much confusion. Home tests, such as the "smell test," "burn test," and "salt-water test" are highly subjective and unreliable. Home tests can also damage your jewelry! The best way to ensure that your Baltic Amber is genuine is to purchase from a reliable source. We have been working with the same group of Lithuanian Baltic Amber Artisans for years. We check each shipment we receive using a UV light (genuine Baltic Amber will fluoresce under UV light). We regularly send samples of our amber to a certified gemologist for testing. You can view samples of our test results below!
